Keep the evening of September 10 free. Why? Because it’s the second official OKCtweetup of course!
You may remember the first OKCtweetup was a raging success. Over 200 tweeters gathered at Iguana Mexican Grill and a fantastic time was had by all.
This time around the OKCtweetup folk are upping the ante. To mark the release of the completely re-mastered Beatles back catalog, the OKCtweetup is going to be a celebration of the Fab Four.
The tweetup will be at the funky Purple Bar at Nonna’s in Bricktown. Joining OKC’s fantastic social media community will be our friendly Social Media Ninja, Giovanni Gallucci (who is also speaking at AMA OKC that day, by the way.)
Again, the OKCtweetup folk have gone mad on the prizes. Here are just a few of them:
Of course, Evolve is involved – and you should be too! To guarantee entry to this awesome free event, make sure you register.
For all things related to the OKCtweetup, head on over to www.okctweetup.com. We’ll see you there!

My wife purchased a lovely Mac Book Pro via telephone this week.
The next day, she received an email with a link to a customer experience survey.
While we love online customer experience surveys at Evolve, we really don’t like ones that haven’t been checked before going live.
So, we wrote an email to Apple:
Hi Apple,
Great job on asking customers for feedback. As researchers we totally dig online customer surveys.
Noticed a few things that you guys really should take care of otherwise we have a feeling your data is going to be skewed.
1. Your 1-10 scale questions seem to be off-kilter. Technically, people won’t be able to rate things a 1. Here’s how it looks in Firefox on a PC:

2. You appear to have some logic issues. We made our purchase over the phone and indicated that we did so in the survey. Online was never checked…but we’re asked about our online purchase experience. Check this out:

Anyway, keep on researching – it’s the foundation of everything. By the way, if you’re looking for researchers who pay attention to detail and focus on accuracy and strategy then let us know!
The effects of this for Apple are two-fold:
- Some of the data gathered is inaccurate, period. If the survey has been like this for some time, there is going to be a high volume of unusable data.
- Their sales and marketing team might be perceived as unprofessional.
It’s for this reason that we are crazy about checking surveys and data for accuracy. Research cannot afford to be wrong.

Busy, busy, busy is a reflective description of this week at Evolve.
Quotes have been going out the door, usability audits have been written and Kevin and Julie have been out of the office delivering sugary cookie goodness to whoever will eat it.
We were really excited to learn about an excellent initiative, Code4aCause, whereby local web developers and designers donate their talents to help non profits get various systems up and running. The magic takes place on August 29. We’re even more excited because Evolve is going to be part of this effort. We’ll be showing non profits how to conduct research without spending much money.
We’ve had some internal IT changes, too. We now use Google Apps as a fully functioning Exchange server. This technology is powerful, and we’re looking forward to using Google’s awesome collaborative tools in the future. Kevin reports feeling extremely unpopular since Google now intercepts and removes his 200 spam emails a day. No more cheap Rolex’s or bargain pharmaceuticals for him.
Back to work for us. Our final Friday job is a great one – we’re off to demo our usability labs to a fun group of people.
Have great weekends, everyone!
